The 25 Best Films of 2018

Wow! What a spectacular year 2018 has been for the film industry. After the highs of 2017’s big-screen selection the quantity of brilliant films this year has blown last years offering out of the water. There have been terrifying horror films, heart-warming indie pictures, one of the greatest animations of all time and a horror fantasy finally won the best picture at the Oscars.

Outside of this years list, there has also been a plethora of note-worthy films which sadly didn’t make the cut. Steve McQueens latest creation Widows featured a scintillating villainous performance from last years rising star Daniel Kaluuya. Utoya 22-July delicately re-told the horrifying events of Norway’s deadliest terrorist attack. I was privileged enough to hear from some of the survivors of the tragedy after the film. Coralie Fargeat’s female empowerment horror Revenge was a visually stunning, powerful film. And last but not least The Wife paired up screen legends Glenn Close and Jonathan Pryce for two of the most powerful performances of the year. But enough about what didn’t make the list, let’s dive into the top 25 films of this spellbinding year.
